GACITOR-DSR Capsules (Enteric Coated Pantoprazole Sodium & Domperidone Sustained Release Capsules)
GACITOR-DSR is a combination of two medicines: Domperidone and Pantoprazole. This combination is used to treat acidity, heartburn or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD); a condition where the acid in the stomach flows back up into the food pipe (esophagus). It is also used to treat gastric and duodenal ulcers. On the other hand, Domperidone helps to control vomiting. It increases the movement of the stomach and intestines which allows the food to move more easily through the stomach.
How domperidone + pantoprazole works
This is a combination of two medicines: Domperidone and Pantoprazole. Domperidone is a prokinetic which works on the upper digestive tract to increase the movement of the stomach and intestines, allowing the food to move more easily through the stomach. Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in the relief of acid-related indigestion and heartburn.
Common side effects of domperidone + pantoprazole
Diarrhea, Stomach pain, Flatulence, Dryness in mouth, Dizziness, Headache
Selectively accumulates & binds to the Cys-813 & Cys-822 residues of the proton pump to inhibit gastric acid production from the parietal cells
Reduces both acid & bile reflux, thus reliably heals reflux oesophagitis associated mucosal lesions & H. Pylori Infections
Pantoprazole offers a longer duration of action than Rabeprazole
As Compare to Other PPI’s, Pantoprazole exhibits linear predictable pharmacokinetics and lack drug interaction 1 and hence is a better choice for patients on multiple drugs
